Solid Offensive Effort Not Enough to Take Down SAGU

The Men’s Basketball team got off to a great start on Monday night in Waxahachie, TX against Southwestern Assemblies of God University. The Royals would shoot better than they have yet this season as they would shoot nearly 40% percent from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.

The game was very competitive through the first half of play as neither team would lead by more than 7 for the first 16 minutes of play. It was back and forth action and the Royals led by 4 with 6:21 remaining in the first half. Turnovers would allow SAGU to retake and extend the lead to 64-46 finishing the half.

Ecclesia would have a tougher go offensively in the second half, but were still able to finish with a season high 79 points. However, better defense and strong offense for SAGU led to a 113-79 final. Senior Cash Krueger (Denton, TX/Lyon College) finished with a double-double, scoring 15 and pulling down 14 rebounds. Freshman De’Vontae Ross (Bearden, AR) would lead in scoring with 20, as Sophomore Vince Toftness (Owenton, KY) tallied 12 coming off the bench.
