Fast Paced, High Scoring Game Not Enough At SCU

The Men’s Basketball team played on Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 20) at Southwestern Christian University in Oklahoma before going home for Thanksgiving. The game would be fast paced as SCU applied pressure throughout, which Ecclesia handled well.

The Royals shot very well from all over the floor as they went 42.9% from the field, 48% from three point range, and 70.4% from the charity stripe. SCU, however, would dominate the glass as they pulled down 48 rebounds and Ecclesia hauled in 25. The first half ended with the Royals trailing by 11, down 53-42.

The second half played very much the same as the first half as both teams continued to play fast and score often. Senior Ashton Worgu (New Iberia, LA/Morthland College) would finish his second alley-oop in as many days, this time assisted by fellow Senior Sammy Johnson Jr. (Memphis, TN/Tennessee State University). Five Royals players would reach double digits in scoring with Sophomore Vince Toftness (Owenton, KY/Asbury University) leading the offense with 17. EC would shoot 12-25 from downtown in the effort, but lost 101-91. The Royals return to action at 6:00pm on Friday November 30, at Lincoln University (Jefferson City, MO).
