Women's Basketball Struggles Over Three Game Stretch

Last week the Lady Royals took a trip to Paragould, AR to play Crowley’s Ridge College on Thursday night, and Pensacola Christian College on Friday night. They would drop both games before returning to Springdale where they would play and fall to Central Baptist College on Monday night.

December 6th featured a slow start for Ecclesia as they fell behind 27-10 in the first quarter. The second quarter would be the best offensively for the Lady Royals as they scored 18. In the second half the scoring struggles returned, and Ecclesia would lose 93-52. Senior Guard Haley Gresham (Crowley, TX/Southwestern Assemblies of God University) led in scoring with 12, as Freshman Guard Harmony Van Campen (Houston, Tx./Travis High School) came close to a double-double, scoring 10 and hauling in 8 boards.

The next night would see much of the same as Ecclesia came out slow again, and trailed 38-13 going into halftime. The offense played better in the second half but it would not be enough to dig out from the first half hole. Sophomore Forward Saphire Thompson (Fayettville, AR/Greenland High School) had 12 points and 9 rebounds in the 79-43 loss.

Back in Springdale, AR on Monday December 10th, turnovers and poor shooting led to a rough loss for Ecclesia. Central Baptist took advantage and scored often on turnovers, and the Lady Royals shot 22% from the floor in the 90-32 loss. Freshman Guard Tayler Kirk (Flippin, AR/Flippin High School) led Ecclesia with 13 points. Ecclesia travels to Durant, OK next to play Southeastern Oklahoma University on Saturday December 15.
