Men's Basketball Drops Tough One to Nebraska Christian

Monday afternoon the Royals played host to the Sentinels of Nebraska Christian College. The game would result in a 96-82 loss for Ecclesia but the final score does not reflect how hard fought and competitive the game was.

Early on in the contest it would be a close game as Milacio Freeland and Cash Krueger both put up strong offensive first halves. Late in the first half NCC began to pull away forcing Coach Huck to call a time-out. The Royals came out from huddle with aggressiveness and determination cutting a 21 point lead to 10 before NCC had to use a TO.

The Royals went into the half trailing 52-44. The defense for Ecclesia in the final 20 minutes was stronger than the first period. With just minutes remaining the Royals had trimmed the lead to 87-82. It was then that NCC would win the game at the charity stripe as Ecclesia turnovers and missed shots forced them to foul. Nebraska Christian finished well at the line to win 96-82.

Junior Guard Milacio Freeland (Rogers, AR/Lyon College) and Senior Forward Cash Krueger (Denton, TX/Lyon College) would both tally 18 points. Krueger recored another double-double hauling in 10 rebounds, as Freeland sunk 4 from deep. Ecclesia shot 82% from the free throw line. The Royals go back on the road next as they go to Point Lookout, MO this weekend to play Haskell Indian Nations University on Friday (3pm) and College of the Ozarks on Saturday (7pm).
