Cold Shooting Night and Slow Start Result in Losses for Royals

On Friday night following the women's basketball game, Ecclesia and Randall's men's teams would meet on the court.

Early offensive kept the game close with Ecclesia leading by 5, until an adjustment by the Randall defense gave the home team the edge. Ecclesia went cold shooting and began falling behind. The first half ended with the Royals trailing by 20 points.

In the second half Ecclesia's offense came back to life. The Royals began to pour in shots but Randall kept pace. It would be a fast paced, high scoring affair in the final twenty minutes. The teams seemed to match shot for shot. Ecclesia would outscore their opponents 51-48 but it would not be enough to overcome the deficit. Ecclesia fell 96-79. Senior Guard Davion Lockridge (El Paso, TX/Ranger Junior College) knocked down 5 of 6 from deep and finished with 18. The Royals had a balanced scoring attack as three others reached double digits.

Last night the Royals took on Lyon College. Ecclesia would find themselves in an early hole as Lyon had an explosive start jumping to a 22-4 lead in the first few minutes. Trailing 55-27 at the break the Royals would never get back into the game as their offense was better in the second half, but they could not contain Lyon on defense.

The final score would be 101-63. Sophomore Guard Vince Toftness (Owenton, KY/Asbury University) led the Royals with 18 points. Ecclesia plays again on Febuary 5th at Ozark Christian following the women's game.
