Tough Weekend for Women's Basketball; Lady Royals Drop A Pair

On Friday night the Lady Royals were in Texas playing against Arlington Baptist University. When Ecclesia hosted ABU earlier this season the Lady Royals were outplayed and lost 93-54. This time in Arlington the result would be very similar.

The offense took a while to get going for the Lady Royals who would be held to 11 and 12 in the first two quarters. On the other side of the court ABU played well. At the halftime break Ecclesia trailed 51-23.

In the third quarter Ecclesia finally got the offense going as they put 20 points on the board. It was too late as Arlington Baptist finished out the game and won 93-57. Raquel Woods (Rogers, AR/Rogers Heritage) would lead the Lady Royals with 19 points and 7 rebounds.

After Friday’s game Ecclesia went up to Kansas to play Kansas Christian College on Saturday. This one would start very different as Ecclesia played tough defense to keep it close early on. After ten minutes of action the Lady Royals trailed 19-16.

The game then began to get away from Ecclesia as their defense struggled in the second quarter and the offense went ice cold in the third. Ecclesia shot just 25% from the field in the game, and only 13.6% from deep. They lost 78-55. Saphire Thompson (Fayettville, AR/Greenland High School) tallied 15 to lead Ecclesia. Raquel Woods (Rogers, AR/Rogers Heritage) and Harmony Van Campen (Houston, TX/Travis High School) also reached double figures.

The Lady Royals head to Oklahoma on Saturday for an exhibition game against Rhema Bible Training College at 4p.m. They finish their season at home on Monday against Bacone College at 5p.m.
