Another Royal Earns National Player of the Week Honors

It was a great weekend all around for Royals Baseball. Playing in their third triple header of the year, they would once again win all three games. The defense was outstanding as they defense did not commit any errors behind the pitchers over the course of all three games, and muliple players performed well enough to earn Player of the Week consideration.

Senior Mason Alexander pitched in the first game, an 11-1 Royals victory, and went 6 innings allowing just 5 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 10. Mason was nominated for National Player of the Week Honors and was selected. Mason has been pitching well all season, and his hard work and determination to excel contribute to him earning this. We look forward to seeing how the rest of the season goes, and we will certainly enjoy watching Mason having fun competing out on the mound.

Alexander was not the only player who excelled this weekend for Ecclesia. Senior 1st Baseman Robbie Rodriguez had an excellent weekend as well. Rodriguez batted .555 and scored three runs while driving in 1. Robbie also hit a triple in game 3 on Friday. Senior 3rd Baseman Cam Dougherty had a performance worthy of a player of the week nomination, but he unfortunately did not win. Cam's bat found holes in the defense all day Friday as he collected multiple hits in each of the three contests. Cam batted .600 on the day, scored three runs, and drove in two. He raised his season average nearly 40 points in one day and we couldn't be happier to see his hard work paying off.

With only two weeks remaining in the regular season the Royals are continuing to work hard on and off the field, and we look forward to the possibility of more guys earning honors.
