Baseball Splits 4 Game Series with Graceland University

Game 1

Ecclesia College falls behind in sixth inning in 9-7 loss to Graceland University

Ecclesia College lost the ballgame after losing the lead in the sixth inning Saturday, as Graceland University grabbed a 9-7 victory in seven innings.

Shane Pepper racked up three RBIs on two hits for Ecclesia College. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the second inning.

Gutierrez got the win in relief for Graceland University . Gutierrez pitched two innings and allowed no runs.

Home runs for Graceland University came when Salas homered in the first inning and Harrell homered in the third and fifth innings.

Graceland University 's Salinas, Salas and Harrell combined for five hits and seven RBIs.

Madison Bates took the loss for Ecclesia College. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed two runs.

The top of the first saw Graceland University take an early lead, 2-0. Salinas singled to ignite Graceland University 's offense, before Salas homered, plating Salinas.

Ecclesia College answered Graceland University 's top inning with four runs of its own in the first. Ecclesia College scored on a two-run single by Pepper, a hit by pitch, and an RBI single by Zach Vincent.

Graceland University put up one run in each of the second, third, sixth, and seventh. In the second, Graceland University scored on an RBI single by Salinas, scoring Reynolds.

Ecclesia College survived Graceland University 's surge and put up two runs of its own in the second. Ecclesia College scored on an RBI double by Pepper and an RBI double by Aaron Means.

Graceland University pushed one run across in each of the third, sixth and seventh. In the third, Graceland University scored on a solo home run by Harrell.

Game 2

Ecclesia College makes the most of 6 hits in 4-3 victory over Graceland University

Ecclesia College and Graceland University both had scoring chances on Saturday, but it was Ecclesia College that was able to capitalize on them as it pulled out a 4-3 win.

Graceland University out-hit Ecclesia College seven to six, but Graceland University stranded 10 runners on base.

It was a good day at the plate for Ecclesia College's J.T. Stalnaker. Stalnaker went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.

Taylor Burnett got the win for Ecclesia College. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Burnett struck out one, walked two and gave up seven hits.

Allen took the loss for Graceland University . He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.

The top of the first saw Graceland University take an early lead, 2-0. Medina kicked things off for Graceland University with a single. A groundout by Salas then moved Medina from first to second. Harrell homered, plating Medina.

It didn't take long for Ecclesia College to respond as it scored one run of its own in the second. Ecclesia College scored on a solo home run by Stalnaker.

Game 3

Hot bats not enough, Ecclesia College succumbs to Graceland University , 27-11

Ecclesia College fell 27-11 to Graceland University in six innings on Sunday despite racking up nine hits and 11 runs.

Zach Vincent led Ecclesia College's offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Collacott got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed four runs over two innings. Collacott struck out two, walked seven and gave up no hits.

Graceland University easily handled Ecclesia College pitching as six hitters combined for 16 hits, 21 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Justin Cortinas was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed 11 runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.

Graceland University never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring seven runs on a home run by Harrell and two singles.

Graceland University added six more runs in the top of the second. The inning looked promising, as Abbott singled, plating Medina and Allen to kick things off. That was followed up by Salinas' single, scoring Reynolds and Abbott.

One Ecclesia College run crossed the plate in the bottom half of the second, making the score 13-3. A wild pitch set off Ecclesia College rally. Collacott ended the inning by getting J.T. Stalnaker to strike out.

One run in the bottom of the third helped Ecclesia College close its deficit to 13-4. A sacrifice fly by Robbie Rodriguez triggered Ecclesia College's comeback. The Ecclesia College threat came to an end when #26 finally got Cam Doughtery to.

Three runs in the bottom of the fourth helped Ecclesia College close its deficit to 17-7. An RBI single by Alec Walker, an RBI single by Jay-Ryan Woods, and an error fueled Ecclesia College's comeback. But, #26 got Doughtery to to end the inning.

Four runs in the bottom of the fifth helped Ecclesia College close its deficit to 18-11. A two-run single by Micheal Busby, an RBI single by Woods, and an error sparked Ecclesia College's rally. Finally, #29 induced an inning-ending ground out from Dylan Hartley.

Game 4

Early boost from J.T. Stalnaker helps Ecclesia College get past Graceland University , 3-2

Three first-inning runs helped Ecclesia College to a 3-2 win over Graceland University on Sunday.

Ecclesia College would not relinquish the lead as Graceland University was unable to weather a three-run first inning deficit.

Graceland University scored two runs in the third on a solo home run by Reynolds and a sacrifice fly by Harrell. Still, Graceland University couldn't draw even.

Mason Alexander recorded the win for Ecclesia College. He allowed two runs over seven innings. Alexander struck out three, walked one and gave up seven hits.

Gray couldn't get it done on the rubber for Graceland University , taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
