Six Baseball Players Named to All-Region Teams

We are so proud when all the effort, perseverance, and dedication pays off for our athletes, and we are happy to announce that 6 Royals earned All Region honors this season!

Seniors Mason Alexander and Matt Garrison were named First Team All Region, and Senior Zach Vincent, Junior Stevie Morphew, Sophomore Trayson LaCour, and Freshman Cooper Gordon were named Second Team All Region.

Pitcher Mason Alexander had an excellent season, going 8-2 in the regular season with a 1.51 ERA and 75 strikeouts. He also earned Ecclesia's only Regional Tournament win while striking out 6 more. Off all the pitchers in the region, only three are selected to the All Region First Team and we are proud that Mason's numbers and performances have earned him this honor.

Outfielder Matt Garrison has been a difference maker on the field every year he has played and he has earned the respect of all the coaches who voted him onto the First Team. Garrison batted .351 this season with an OBP of .435. Anytime he is on base he is a problem for the opposing pitcher and defense, as he stole 38 bases in the regular season, and added two more during the Region Tournament. In the field Matt will track down anything hit near him, even if it means running full speed into the fence. Garrison's consistency and leadership are a big part of his First Team selection.

The All Region Second team is loaded with talented Royals. Zach Vincent has shown that he is one of the most talented shortstops in the reason, and even when his bat is cold, Zach finds his way on base almost 50% of the time. Stevie Morphew is a complete player. He was a top hitter for the Royals this year and showed flashes of power as well. With a talented outfield pool this year, Stevie was selected to the Second Team by the coaches because they know he is a difference maker. Though still early in his career, Trayson LaCour has dazzled opponents with his glove and has consistently stolen hits, runs, and extra bases from opponents. Though hot and cold with the bat, Trayson's play this season stood out to the coaches in the region and earned him Second Team honors. Cooper Gordon came in this year and pitched great for Ecclesia. Gordon was 7-2 this year, and had a 3.50 ERA over 70 innings. As a freshman Cooper showed that he can handle both adversity and big games. As a result his play stood out to the coaches and locked up a Second Team nod.

We are very proud of these 6 and all of their teammates. They all work incredibly hard throughout the year, and deserve recognition for their efforts. Congratulations to these young men on their accomplishments this year!
