Alec Bryant hired as assistant baseball coach

Head baseball coach Matthew McCue has announced the hiring of Alec Bryant to the position of Assistant Baseball Coach. His primary duty will be instructing the pitching staff. Bryant brings to the Royals 4 years of high school coaching experience including three years as a head coach. "From the first conversation I had with Alec I could tell his heart towards the game was in the right place. He has raised the bar and won everywhere he has been. He has a driven desire to invest in young men and their development. He is a true student of the game. He brings that passion combined with a great knowledge of the game, love of the Lord, and an emphasis on discipleship side of coaching. Alec is the perfect fit." said Coach McCue.

Most recently Coach Bryant served as the head baseball coach at 4A Gilmer High School in Gilmer, Texas. His 2019 team qualified for the playoffs and his team's stats saw dramatic improvements from the previous year. His staff ERA was 3.20, The team's overall record was 17-13-1 as opposed to a 7-11 record the year before. His offense also improved from a .160 AVG to .282 increasing their runs per game as well from 3.1 to 5.9.

In 2018, Bryant served as the Head Coach at Mt. Vernon High School where his team finished 20-8, his staff ERA was 3.00, his team also finished 10th in the 3A state in runs per game. in 2017 Bryant began his head coaching career at fellow 3A Cooper High School where his team finished 22-6 including winning the program's first playoff series in 15 years and made the playoffs for the first time in seven years. His staff ERA was 2.07 and their defensive runs against improved to 2.5 a game compared to 10.1 the year before.

Bryant received his Bachelor's of Science in Mass Communication and a minor in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler in May 2015. He received his Master's of Science in Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Studies with a concentration in Athletic Administration from Texas A&M at Commerce in May 2016.

Alec has been married to his wife, Brittany, for two years.
