Royals Split in a Tough Weekend

The Ecclesia Royals traveled to Iowa to play #10 Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny. Despite the Royals going 1-10 from 3 in the first half it was a back and forth game as the Royals relied on their defense to keep them in the game. The defense was a catalyst for the Royals as it would spark a 10-0 run to grow a 15-point lead midway through the second half. The Royals would hold onto the lead for a 90-81 win. The Royals defense proved tough as they held Faith to 10% from three, and 38% from the field on the game. Matthew Hamer had his first career double-double with 10pts and 10 rebounds, and Zachary McGee finished with 23pts, 8 rebounds, and two big dunks.

After playing Faith the previous night, just 18 hours earlier, Ecclesia traveled to Moberly, Missouri to play #8 Central Christian College of the Bible. It was a game of trading buckets for the first half of the game. Both teams came out shooting as Ecclesia shot 50% from 3 in the first half but allowed CCCB to shoot 58% from the field. This put the Royals in a hole, down by 4 going into half time. The Royals defense continued to struggle in the second half giving up a lot of transition and second chance buckets, totaling 64 points in the paint for CCCB. After a less than stellar second half, Ecclesia falls to Central 108-93. Deondre Phillips finished with 14pts and 5 assists and, Joey Gobert finished with 4 assists.
