Another OT Thriller For Men's Basketball

After splitting the previous weekend's games, Ecclesia prepared for a Friday matchup with Calvary University in Kansas City, MO. Ecclesia came out hot going on a 12-0 run thanks to going 4 of 4 from the 3 point line with four different shooters. The game would level off and become a battle of inches for the rest of the first 20 minutes of play. As the first half came to a close Ecclesia held a small four point lead to take the teams into intermission. In the second half, the warriors of Calvary U. took a commanding lead thanks to some spectacular outside shooting and good post play. Staring down a 16-point deficit with eight minutes left, the Royals made one last run. Ecclesia would climb back into the game thanks to coming alive on the defensive end and some timely made shots. The game would eventually go into overtime after a game winner was left a little long from an EC shooter. Unfortunately Ecclesia had no answer for Calvary’s outside shooting in the bonus five minutes of play, and the Royals came up short in OT 95-89. Sophomore Deondre Phillips led the charge with 24 points and Senior Drew Cone added 5 assists.

The Royals are back in action in Omaha, NE tomorrow night against NCCAA D1 rival Nebraska Christian College.
