Royals Break a Curse

Ecclesia returned to play at home against Calvary University Monday night. Ecclesia jumped out to a quick lead in the first half much like in the first matchup of the year against Calvary University. Deondre Phillips was determined to not let the Warriors back into the game as he carved up the Calvary defense in the first half; he had 20 points before the break. An offensive showcase made up the second half of the game as both offenses came out shooting well in the second half. Both teams putting up 40 plus points in the second 20 minutes of play on the shoulders of good percentages. Ecclesia shot 52% from deep on the game and Calvary would be close behind at 48%. It came down to the wire in the end with Ecclesia victorious in a 2-point win 86-84. Sophomore Deondre Phillips would be the walking highlight as he finished with 35 points, 7 Rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Drew Cone, Zachary McGee, and Nicholas Coble all chipped in 13+ points on the night, including Drew Cone’s game winning layup with 7 seconds left. These are the first back to back wins for the Ecclesia College Royals since the 2016-2017 season.

Royals are put right back into action tomorrow night for their third game in four days as they travel to Branson, MO to take on the highly talented Bobcats of College of the Ozarks.
