Senior Night For Ecclesia College

Ecclesia College Royals finished the season at home against Champion Christian College. It was the last home game and it was senior night for Ecclesia College as they honored Drew Cone as their lone senior. Drew Cone is nationally ranked in four statistical categories (FT%, 3P%, 3PM Per Game, and PPG), and now holds six Ecclesia College Basketball Records (FT% in a season, 3PM Per Game, 3PM in a season, PPG in a season, Total points in a season, and Single game 3PM). Drew Cone came to Ecclesia College from Pfeiffer University. He has led the team in GPA, work hours, and has been a steady leader for the whole season. He has been a staple in the formation of the foundation of this young program.

In the final game Ecclesia came out with good energy in support of senior night, but Champion came out on fire. Kentrell Jacobs of Champion had 6 3’s and Drew Cone of Ecclesia had 12 points in the first half. It was a fast pace first half which saw Ecclesia down by 18 at halftime. Ecclesia had good team and bench play in the second half which led to another monster 50+ point second half. The bench came through for Ecclesia scoring 35 points with Nicholas Coble and Terrell Green leading the charge. Despite the much needed production Ecclesia College saw the deficit swell to 28 points very quickly in the second half and it was looking grim. But, if you have followed Ecclesia this year you know that they never stop working. Ecclesia went on a dominant run sparked by hard-nosed defense and impressive transition offense. The Royals cut the lead to only 10 points with 3:30 left in the game. Unfortunately, there was not enough gas left in the tank as the Royals were unable to finish out the comeback. Sophomore Deondre Phillips finished with 26 points and 11 assists, and Senior Drew Cone joined him with 22 points in his last game as a Royal. The Royals fell in the final game 107-93.

We want to say thanks for everyone’s support and coming out to home games this year. It was a good season with a lot of upside for a very young team. We are looking forward to some very big things from this young team in the very near future.
