Baseball Sweeps Morthland College - Prepares for Regionals

Game 1

Offenses dominate as Ecclesia College outscores Morthland College 9-8

Ecclesia College and Morthland College lit up the scoreboard on Sunday as they combined for 17 runs. In the end, Ecclesia College won the offensive battle 9-8 in seven innings.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to four lead changes in the game.

After a quick strike from Morthland College, Ecclesia College responded with two runs in the sixth. Ecclesia College scored on a two-run single by Busby.

A four-run seventh inning helped bring Morthland College within one. A two-run single by Girardeau, a wild pitch, and a walk by Dunn triggered Morthland College's comeback. Ecclesia College closed the game out when Justin Cortinas got Kuh to strike out.

Game 2

Early lead gives Ecclesia College victory over Morthland College, 16-6

Ecclesia College jumped out to an early lead on Morthland College and captured a 16-6 victory on Sunday.

The game was decided quickly as Ecclesia College exerted its will early with nine runs in the first three innings. A sacrifice fly by J.T. Stalnaker and an RBI single by Alec Walker during the first inning and a two-run double by Matt Garrison, an RBI single by Joe Dawes, a wild pitch, an RBI single by Stalnaker, an RBI triple by Aaron Means, and an RBI single by Alec Walker in the second inning fueled Ecclesia College's offense early.

Dawes went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for Ecclesia College.

Jay-Ryan Woods recorded the win for Ecclesia College even though he allowed six runs over five innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered nine hits.

Ecclesia College easily handled Morthland College pitching as eight hitters combined for 16 hits, 12 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

Brooks ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed 16 runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out two.

Ecclesia College survived Morthland College's surge and put up four runs of its own in the fifth. Ecclesia College scored on a two-run single by Cam Doughtery, a two-run single by Doughtery, an RBI triple by Jacob Crumpler, and an RBI triple by Zach Vincent.
