Lady Royals Softball opened their season against Southwest Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, TX. SAGU Softball is the pre-season #2 in the NAIA's Sooner Athletic Conference. The four game series took place on February 5th and 6th.

The first game of the series was the closest and best played by the Royals with zero errors and a final score of 2-0 in an Ecclesia College loss. The Royals defense would keep the scoreboard dark through the first inning before SAGU would earn runs in the second and fifth innings. Emily Threlkeld gained the only EC hit of the night, and Brynna McGuire would make her first career start and pitch the full game.

The final game of day one saw a less impressive defense from the Royals and the game was over in three innings. Madison Cordell and Gabby Moore each earned a hit, and Savanah Gayle pitched the three innings and earned a pair of Ks.

The opening game of day two concluded in five innings as the powerful offense from SAGU did not slow down overnight. The EC offense finally saw home plate as Emily Threlkeld and Gabby Ellis each scored a run, and Lexie Guerrero added an RBI. Savanah Gayle pitched four innings and Brynna McGuire wrapped it up.

The final game of the series saw the best hitting from the Royals but were unable to turn any of them into runs. Lexie Guerrero, Gabby Moore, Madison Wiggins, Lauren Franco, Chasity Schiltz all earned hits, and Adriana Weaver pitched the full game.
