Day Two (and three) of the Independent Tournament Conclude

Day two of the Independent Tournament turned into day three after a rain delay pushed the games back to the following day. Two games managed to get completed before the weather moved in. Your host Royals, however, were 2 innings into their game when the game was shut down to be restarted the following morning.

The Royals round matchup was against Champion Christian College who had won twice the day before against Randall University and Bob Jones University. EC started the game strong with another signature Zack Espinosa homerun. Champion would tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the second before a four score inning for the Royals pushed it to 5-1. The Royals would bat in another in the following inning to make it a solid 6-1. However, the Tigers of Hot Springs were not going to go away. CCC put together a great pair of innings to tie the game 6-6. With the score tied going into the bottom of the 5th Austin Butler launched a solo homerun over the right fielder. The following inning Zack Espinosa would bookend the game with his second homerun of the day to seal the game. The Royals advance to the Championship game on a hard fought 8-6 win. Jesse Alexander, Elijah Saldana, and Cooper Gordon carried the load on the mound and racked up 9 Ks.
