Navy Evens Royals' Series

In game 2 of the Navy-Gold Royals Series, Stevie Morphew, went 4-4 at the plate, helping Navy to an 8-4 victory over Gold to even the series 1-1.

Navy’s starting pitcher, Jay-Ryan Woods, got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings. Woods struck out one, walked five and gave up four hits.

Madison Bates, Gold’s starting pitcher, took the loss. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.

The top of the first saw Gold take an early lead, 1-0. A single by JT Stalnaker, bringing home Matt Garrison started the inning off.

Navy went up for good in the first, scoring two runs on a two-run double by Joey Dawes.

Navy piled on three more runs in the bottom of the third. Morphew's double got things going, plating Weston Chadwell.

Navy increased their lead with two runs in the fifth. A bases loaded walk scored Morphew to start the scoring in the inning.

Gold scored three runs in the top of the sixth to cut their deficit to three. An RBI single by Ethan Casey, a sacrifice fly by Ryan McClurkin, and an RBI single by Cameron Dougherty fueled the Gold’s comeback.

Game 3 of the Navy-Gold Series will be Thursday, October 27 at 3:00 PM.
