Gold's Stalnaker Walk Offs Navy with Homerun

With the score tied at seven, Gold’s JT Stalnaker came to the plate and homered for the walk off win putting Gold up 2-1 in the best of 7 Navy-Gold Royals Series.

Stalnaker went a perfect 4-4 at the dish for Gold.

Gold’s starting pitcher, Alec Walker struggled, allowing seven in 1 1/3 innings, but the bullpen let up no runs and the offense banged out 10 to pick up the slack and secured the win for Gold.

Brandon Shaw got the win in relief for Gold. Shaw pitched two innings and allowed no runs.

Navy’s Taylor Whitworth ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. In 1 1/3 innings, he walked two, struck out two, and allowed one run.

Navy jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first. Robbie Rodriguez singled to ignite Navy’s offense. Navy added more runs when Weston Chadwell and Whitworth scored on a two-run single by Rodriguez and Rodriguez scored on an RBI single by Alejandro Coronado.

Gold matched their one-run first inning with one more in the seventh. In the first, Gold scored on a sacrifice fly by Ethan Casey, scoring Brent Phillips.

Another highlight for Gold was when Trevor Caldwell homered in the 5th inning to assist Gold in making their comeback.

Game 4 of the Navy-Gold Series will be Saturday, October 29 at 7:00 PM at Royals Field at Tyson Park.
