Gold Claims Navy/Gold Royals Series Championship

JT Stalnaker went 2-2 and hit a home run, helping Gold to a 4-3 victory over Navy and to claim the 2016 Fall Navy/Gold Royals Series Championship. Gold won the best of seven game series, 4-1.

Madison Bates was a workhorse on the mound while bagging the win for the Gold. Bates pitched a complete game and allowed two earned runs, five hits and three walks while striking out four.

Zach Vincent was hot from the plate for Navy. Vincent went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first and second innings.

Jay-Ryan Woods was the game's losing pitcher. He went six innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed four runs.

The top of the first saw Navy take an early lead, 1-0. The Navy's rally started when Vincent singled. A groundout by Blake Madewell then moved Vincent from first to second. Taylor Whitworth singled, bringing home Vincent.

The lead stayed with Gold after the third, when they scored four runs on a two-run error and a two-run home run by Stalnaker.
