Royals Baseball Wins Series Over NAIA Cornerstone University (MI)

GAME 1
Ecclesia College Royals Jumps Out to Early Lead in Victory Over Cornerstone University

Ecclesia College Royals jumped out to an early lead over Cornerstone University and took home an 8-3 victory on Friday. Ecclesia scored on an error, a single by Zach Vincent, and a groundout by Matt Garrison in the second inning.

Cornerstone University captured the lead in the second inning. Stewart doubled on a 3-2 count in the second inning, scoring two runs.

Ecclesia took the lead for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second there was an error, scoring one run, Zach Vincent singled off of Young, driving in one run, and Matt Garrison grounded out, scoring one run.

Mason Alexander earned the win for the Royals improving his season record to 4-0. He threw seven innings, allowing three runs, eight hits, and striking out one. Young took the loss for Cornerstone. He went four and a third innings, giving up six runs, seven hits, and striking out four.

Home runs for Ecclesia came when JT Stalnaker homered in the third and sixth innings and Ethan Casey homered in the third inning.

Ecclesia collected eight hits. Stalnaker and Casey each collected multiple hits for the Royals. Stalnaker went 3-for-4 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in. Ecclesia was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Vincent had the most chances in the field with ten.

Cornerstone University had eight hits in the game. Stewart and Eeles each collected multiple hits for Cornerstone University.

GAME2
Late Score Costs Ecclesia College Royals Against Cornerstone University

Ecclesia College Royals lost the lead late in a 10-6 defeat to Cornerstone University on Friday. The game was tied at six with Cornerstone University batting in the top of the seventh when Volmering singled off of Justice Jones, driving in one run.

Ecclesia collected four hits and Cornerstone University had 14 in the high-scoring affair.

Cornerstone University took an early lead in the first inning. Krupansky's sac fly scored one run for Cornerstone University.

Ecclesia knotted the game up at six in the bottom of the sixth inning. Joey Dawes homered on the first pitch of the at bat in the sixth inning, scoring three runs.

Ecclesia scored five runs in the sixth inning. The Royals big inning was driven by a walk by Ethan Casey and a home run by Dawes.

Keltner earned the win for Cornerstone University. He tossed one-third of an inning, surrendering zero runs, one hit, striking out one, and walking zero. Justice Jones took the loss for Ecclesia. He threw two-thirds of an inning, giving up four runs, four hits, and striking out one.

Jacob Martinez started the game for Ecclesia. He pitched six innings, surrendering six runs, ten hits, striking out six, and walking zero. Reed started the game for Cornerstone. He threw five and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs, three hits, and striking out eight.

Home runs for Ecclesia came when Dawes homered in the sixth inning and JT Stalnaker homered in the first inning. Home runs for Cornerstone University came when Corsten homered in the sixth inning and Burton homered in the sixth inning.

Stalnaker, Zach Vincent, Corey Ball, and Dawes all had one hit to lead Ecclesia.

Martin, Burton, and Corsten each collected multiple hits for Cornerstone. Martin led Cornerstone University with four hits in five at bats.

GAME 3
Ecclesia College Royals Jumps Out to Early Lead in Victory Over Cornerstone University

An early lead helped Ecclesia defeat Cornerstone University 5-1 on Saturday. The Royals took the lead on a groundout in the first inning.

Ecclesia took an early lead in the first inning. A wild pitch by Shure scored one run for the Royals.

Ecclesia scored three runs in the sixth inning. The Royals scored on a home run by Stevie Morphew, a walk by Corey Ball, and a fielder's choice by Luke Taylor.

Madison Bates earned the win for Ecclesia. He pitched seven innings, surrendering one run, four hits, striking out nine, and walking one. Shure took the loss for Cornerstone University. He went five and a third innings, allowing five runs, three hits, and striking out one.

Morphew, Taylor, Ethan Casey, and Ball each drove in one run to lead Ecclesia.

Corsten led Cornerstone with one run batted in. He went 1-for-2 on the day. Cornerstone didn't commit a single error in the field. Burton had the most chances in the field with six.

GAME 4
Rodriguez's Game Tieing Homer and Stalnaker's Walkoff Gives Ecclesia College Royals Victory Over Cornerstone University

Ecclesia College took Saturday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over Cornerstone University. The game was tied at four with Ecclesia College batting in the bottom of the eighth when there was an error, scoring one run.

Cornerstone University scored four runs in the second inning, but Ecclesia still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Cornerstone came thanks to a groundout, a double by Eeles, and a walk by Corsten.

Ecclesia captured the lead in the first inning. With two outs, Trevor Caldwell drove in two runs when he doubled.

The Royals evened things up at four in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings. Ecclesia tied the game when pinch hitter Robbie Rodriguez homered with two outs in the seventh inning.

The Royals held Cornerstone scoreless in the top of the eight inning. In the bottom of the eight inning, Stevie Morphew drew a lead off walk and JT Stalnaker attempted a drag bunt that caused an errant throw to score Morphew from first base, giving the Royals the walk off win.

Jay-Ryan Woods earned the win for Ecclesia. He threw a complete game, surrendering four runs, 12 hits, and striking out four. Holstad took the loss for Cornerstone University. He tossed one-third of an inning, giving up one run, zero hits, and walking one.

Herrick, a NCAA Division I transfer started the game for Cornerstone. He tossed six and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs, three hits, and striking out four.

Caldwell, Morphew, and Rodriguez each managed one hit to lead Ecclesia.

Cornerstone collected 12 hits. Eeles, Abbadusky, and O'Neil Jr each collected multiple hits.
