Baseball Sweeps Morthland College at Frontier League's Southern Illinois Miners Stadium

GAME 1
Big Sixth Inning Gives Ecclesia College Win Over Morthland College

Eight runs in the sixth inning led Ecclesia College past Morthland College 15-1 on Friday. The big inning was thanks to a walk by Brent Phillips, a walk by Cameron Dougherty, a triple by Zach Vincent, a walk by Dane Clark, a fielder's choice by Ethan Casey, and a fielder's choice by Drew Vinson.

Ecclesia took an early lead in the second inning. Ecclesia scored one run when Zach Vincent singled with two outs in the second inning.

In the bottom of the second inning, Morthland College tied things up at one. Blankenship grounded out, scoring one run.

Ecclesia took the lead for good with one run in the third inning. In the third Trevor Caldwell singled off of Carmichiel, driving in one run.

Ecclesia scored eight runs in the sixth inning. Ecclesia scored on a walk by Brent Phillips, a walk by Cameron Dougherty, a triple by Vincent, a walk by Dane Clark, a fielder's choice by Ethan Casey, and a fielder's choice by Drew Vinson.

Mason Alexander earned the win for Ecclesia College. He tossed seven innings, surrendering one run, seven hits, striking out one, and walking zero. Carmichiel took the loss for Morthland College. He threw four innings, surrendering four runs, and six hits.

Ecclesia had 12 hits in the game. Phillips, Vincent, Casey, JT Stalnaker, and Caldwell each collected multiple hits for Ecclesia. Phillips led Ecclesia with three hits in three at bats.

Blankenship led Morthland College with one run batted in. He went 1-for-3 on the day.

Ecclesia College Jumps Out to Early Lead in Victory Over Morthland College

Ecclesia College defeated Morthland College 16-10 thanks to a strong start. Ecclesia College scored on a single by JT Stalnaker in the first inning, a groundout in the first inning, a single by Stalnaker in the second inning, a error in the second inning, a double by Joey Dawes in the second inning, and a triple by Cameron Dougherty in the second inning.

Ecclesia collected 15 hits and Morthland College had nine in the high-scoring affair

Ecclesia took an early lead in the first inning. JT Stalnaker drove in one when he singled in the first inning.

Justin Cortinas threw one and one-third innings. Walker took the loss for Morthland College. He threw two innings, allowing eight runs, seven hits, and striking out three.

Stalnaker, Dawes, Stevie Morphew, and Alejandro Coronado each collected multiple hits for Ecclesia. Stalnaker led Ecclesia with three hits in five at bats.

Caleb Cirre, O'Neal, and Utley each collected multiple hits for Morthland College.

GAME 3
Bates Throws Shutout as Ecclesia College Defeats Morthland College

Madison Bates didn't allow a single run as Ecclesia College defeated Morthland College 3-0 on Saturday. Bates allowed just two hits and got Caleb Cirre to hit into a fielder's choice to end the game.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Bates struck out five, while Morthland's Daugherty sat down three.

Ecclesia College took an early lead in the first inning. Ecclesia scored on a stolen base during JT Stalnaker's at bat. Then Stalnaker doubled.

One bright spot for Morthland College was a single by O'Neal in the first inning.

Bates earned the win for Ecclesia. He tossed seven innings, giving up zero runs, two hits, striking out five, and walking one. Daugherty took the loss for Morthland College. He pitched seven innings, surrendering three runs, eight hits, and striking out three.

Ecclesia had eight hits in the game. Stalnaker and Matt Garrison each collected multiple hits for Ecclesia. Trevor Caldwell led Ecclesia with two runs batted in. He went 1-for-3 on the day.

O'Neal led Morthland College with two hits in three at bats. Morthland College didn't commit a single error in the field. Ritter had the most chances in the field with 14.
