Royals Go 2-1 in Central Region Tournament Pool Play; Awaits World Series At-Large Bid Decision

Ecclesia College Baseball (32-20) went 2-1 in the loaded Central Region Tournament hosted by Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas May 11-13. Three nationally ranked top ten teams were part of the Central Region Tournament. #1 and defending National Champion Oklahoma Baptist University, #4 Southwestern Christian University and #6 Central Baptist College. In addition, #2 seed NCAA DII Colorado Christian University was ranked #3 in the nation in schedule RPI.

#1 and defending National Champion Oklahoma Baptist University defeated Southwestern Christian University in the Championship Game and will be the automatic bid representing the Central Region in the NCCAA World Series.

The Royals were informed that due to their strong showing in the regular season and regional tournament that they are in strong consideration for an at-large bid to the NCCAA College World Series to be held May 24-27 in Cincinnati, Oho. Their are seven Region Tournaments and each Region Champion recieves an automatic bid to the World Series and then three at-large bid selections are made to round our the ten team field that makes up the NCCAA College Baseball World Series.

The Royals will await their World Series at-large decision.

Bates Throws Shutout as Ecclesia College Defeats #2 Seed NCAA DII Colorado Christian University

Madison Bates didn't allow a single run as Ecclesia College defeated #2 seed NCAA DII Colorado Christian University 2-0 on Thursday. Bates allowed just five hits.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Madison Bates struck out four, while hurlers for Colorado Christian University sat down two.

A single by Scotty Wright in the first inning was a positive for Colorado Christian University.

Bates earned the win for Ecclesia College. He pitched seven innings, allowing zero runs, five hits, and striking out four.

Cameron Dougherty went 1-for-2 at the plate as he led the team with one run batted in. The Royals didn't commit a single error in the field. JT Stalnaker had the most chances in the field with five.

Austin Maltby went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Colorado Christian University in hits.

Southwestern Christian University Captures Lead Early to Defeat Ecclesia College Royals

Ecclesia College fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 8-2 loss to Southwestern Christian University on Friday. Southwestern Christian University scored on a error in the first inning and a groundout by Lowe in the first inning.

Braziel earned the win for Southwestern Christian University. He pitched seven innings, giving up two runs, five hits, and striking out six. Mason Alexander took the loss for Ecclesia College Royals Varsity. He threw seven innings, surrendering eight runs (seven unearned), 12 hits, striking out two, and walking one.

Drew Vinson, Ethan Casey, Matt Garrison, Joey Dawes, and Stevie Morphew each collected one hit to lead Ecclesia College.

Southwestern Christian University collected 12 hits. Umbro, Leingang, Fabian, and Graham each collected multiple hits for Southwestern Christian.

Versus #7 Seed Dallas Christian College
Ecclesia College Royals Jumps Out to Early Lead in Victory Over Dallas Christian College

Ecclesia College Royals defeated Dallas Christian College 13-1 thanks to a strong start. Ecclesia scored on a walk by Joey Dawes in the first inning and a single by Stevie Morphew in the second inning.

The Royals scored four runs in the sixth inning. Ecclesia scored on a error, a single by Zach Vincent, a walk by Stevie Morphew, and a walk.

Jacob Martinez earned the win for Ecclesia. He tossed six and a third innings, allowing one run, three hits, and striking out three. Burt took the loss for Dallas Christian College. He pitched one and one-third innings, allowing four runs, and three hits.

Ecclesia collected 13 hits. Vincent, Matt Garrison, Robbie Rodriguez, and Drew Vinson each collected multiple hits for the Royals. Morphew and Garrison each drove in three runs to lead Ecclesia.
