The Ecclesia Lady Royals hosted nationally ranked Randall University Friday night, the game was competitive throughout but ultimately Randall pulled away en route to an 84-59.
Ecclesia raced out of the gate to an early lead in the first quarter, the saints quickly closed the gap and finished the first quarter up 25-19. Randall continued to stretch their lead throughout the second quarter and went into halftime ahead 42-29. The Royals were led in first half scoring by Emily Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood HS) on 8 points and Raquel Moore (Rogers, AR/Rogers Heritage HS) with 6.
The second half was more of the same story of the Lady Royals competing and keeping it within striking distance, but Ecclesia struggled from the free throw line all night and with some timely shots from Randall they were able to put the game out of reach.
Dara Smith (West Fork, AR/West Fork HS) had a strong second half and finished with a team high 19 points with 7 rebounds. Moore finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds including 5 offensive. Chadwell finished with 11 points. Also making her way onto the stat sheet with 6 rebounds (4 offensive), 4 assists and 4 points was freshman guard April Harris (Gentry AR/Gentry HS), who's scrappy play was on display in her 38 minutes of time.
The Ecclesia Women's basketball team will be back in action again this Tuesday, January 13th when they will host Central Baptist College, tip off is scheduled for 5 PM.
