The Ecclesia women's basketball team traveled to Kansas for a Tuesday matchup with Barclay College. It was the second consecutive road game for Ecclesia having played at Arlington Baptist on Monday. Despite the large amount of traveling and a tough loss at the hand of the Patriots, the The Lady Royals were able to came away with a big win on the road by a score of 72-55 over the Barclay Bears.
Ecclesia came out hard from the start, establishing solid defense on their way to a 13-5 lead after the first quarter. Barclay stuck around for most of this one, however, making some shots and keeping this game tight, the score was 28-21 at the half. Sophomore post player Cherokee McGraw (Mountain Grove, MO/Norwood HS) proved to be the offensive mismatch all night long coming off the bench to score a game high 29 points in just 24 minutes. Freshman point guard Emily Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood HS) was all over the court on both sides of the basketball filling up the stat sheet to the tune of 12 points, 9 assists, 8 steals, and 6 rebounds. In the end, the Lady Royals pulled away in the 4th quarter and to cap off a 17 point victory.
Junior Guard Haley Gresham (Crowley, TX/Southwestern Assemblies of God) finished with a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman Dara Smith (West Fork, AR/West Fork HS) also added a double-double with 10 points and 10 reboinds.
Ecclesia women's basketball is now 3-10 on the season and will be in acton again on Tuesday, February 6th at Ozark Christian College. Tip off is scheduled for 6pm.
