The NCCAA All-Central Region announced the 2018 All-Central Region Baseball Teams on May 8 prior to the Region Tournament starting May 9. Student-athletes were selected for all awards by vote of the Central Region head baseball coaches.
Five Royals received selections.
FIRST TEAM ALL-CENTRAL REGION
Mason Alexander (Junior/Pitcher)
9-2 record and 1.6 ERA
JT Stalnaker (Senior/Catcher)
Batted .426 with 66 hits, 69 RBI, 15 doubles and 11 homeruns.
Matt Garrison (Junior/Outfielder)
Batted .398 with 66 hits, 9 doubles, 2 triples and 40 stolen bases.
SECOND TEAM ALL-CENTRAL REGION
Ethan Casey (Senior/Frist Base)
Batted .345 with 52 hits, 44 RBI, 16 doubles, 2 triples and 7 homeruns.
Stevie Morphew (Sophomore/Outfielder)
Batted .442 with 65 hits, 48 RBI, 12 stolen bases, 15 doubles, 6 triples and 3 homeruns.
Ecclesia College Baseball (35-18) went 2-2 in the loaded Central Region Tournament hosted by College of the Ozarks in Branson, MO May 9-11. Two nationally ranked top ten teams were part of the Central Region Tournament. #2 Southwestern Christian University and #8 College of the Ozarks. In addition, #1 seed NCAA DII Colorado Christian University was ranked #3 in the nation in schedule RPI and Central Baptist College and the Royals were ranked top 10 nationally at one point in the season.
The Royals were informed that due to their quality showing in the regular season and regional tournament that they are in consideration for an at-large bid to the NCCAA College World Series to be held May 23-26 in Easley, South Carolina. There are seven Region Tournaments and each Region Champion recieves an automatic bid to the World Series and then three at-large bid selections are made to round out the ten team field that makes up the NCCAA College Baseball World Series.
The Royals will await their World Series at-large decision.
