Head baseball coach Matthew McCue has announced the hiring of Sam Potter to the title of assistant baseball coach for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. Sam's main roles on the field will be coaching the infielders, assisting with the hitters, and coaching a base. "Sam is a great addition to our staff, his intelligence in the game of baseball and desire to grow while combined with his work ethic, love for Christ, and the kids he coaches are what make him a perfect fit for this position. Sam will contribute an immediate and positive impact to our coaching staff and our players both on and off the field." said McCue in a statement.
Potter has spent the last 14 months as a private instructor with the well known Hitting Academy in the Tampa area of south Florida. Potter's main role there was instructing the youth from elementary up to high school age in hitting, pitching, catching and fielding. Potter incorporated side by side software analytics of an athlete's swing and fundamentals while giving instruction to help maximinze their potential. He also taught 5 tool training classes which focus on increasing strength and conditioning.
After graduating from high school in the Pittsburg area, Potter attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania where he played baseball. During his summers in college he worked as a camp counselor with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship in Avalon, California. He graduated from Geneva college with degrees in Business administration and Sports management, and a minor in Sport coaching.
