Saturday afternoon the Lady Royals were back in action following the break for the holidays. They went up to Kansas City, MO to play the Warriors of Calvary University. After a 70-54 Ecclesia loss when Calvary visited Ecclesia earlier this season, the Lady Royals would struggle again.
The Warriors got hot right after tip-off and played a strong first quarter to put Ecclesia in an early hole. Following the first ten minutes Calvary led 22-11. The second quarter featured much stronger play from the Lady Royals. They would score 20, but were unable to slow down Calvary who went into the half with a 48-31 lead.
The Lady Royals came out after halftime and played their best defense of the game in the third quarter, holding the opponents to 18 points. However Ecclesia went cold on the offensive end. They would shoot better in the final period, but it was too late as the Lady Royals fell 88-57.
Freshman Guard Tayler Kirk (Flippin, AR/Flippin High School) took the lead for Ecclesia as she tallied 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. The Lady Royals are back at home at Next Level Achievements on Tuesday January 8, as they take on Central Christian College of the Bible at 5p.m.
