FULL WEEK FOR MEN'S BASKETBALL

Coming off Friday night’s double overtime loss, Ecclesia looked to bounce back against Ozark Christian in a Tuesday evening matchup in Joplin, MO. The Royals struggled to find good looks against the Ambassador’s defense, proven by shooting only 33% from the field in the first half as well as being outrebounded by 12. Ecclesia entered the half-way point down by 14 points. Their offensive struggles continued in the second half just the same. EC would end the contest shooting only 31% from the field and lose the rebounding battle by 21. The final tally would go in OCC’s favor as Ecclesia losses 85-65. Drew Cone finished as the leading scorer with 22 points.

Ecclesia College would find themselves back on the court three nights later as they hosted Dallas Christian at the Jones Center in Springdale, AR. Ecclesia came out hot in the first half putting up 46 points, all the while making a defensive stand by only allowing 38. Dallas would make some defensive adjustments going into the second half, but the hot streak continued as Nicholas Coble caught fire in the second half and finished with 26 going 7-10 from 3. The Royals put on an offensive show shooting 51% from the field, 59% from long range, and 88% from the charity stripe. With a final score of 96-88 the Royals notched their first win of the second semester. To join Nicholas Coble in the scoring column Drew Cone finished with 30 points, and Zachary McGee finished with 14 points and 7 rebounds in the Royals win.

With a quick turnaround, the Royals hosted Nebraska Christian the very next evening. The theme was defense. It was a back and forth, blow for blow game with the lead never getting higher than 8 in the first half. Drew Cone had 11pts going into half to help fuel a 37-34 Ecclesia lead. The game remained just as physical in the second half. It came down to the final minutes of the game for a winner to be decided with the score becoming tied several times. In the end Ecclesia comes up short in a defensive thriller 69-71. Drew Cone finished with 29 points, and Zachary McGee finished with 12.

The Royals next contest will be against in state NCCAA Champion Christian College of Hot Springs, AR. on January 21st.
