Hot bats not enough, Ecclesia College succumbs to St. Gregory's University, 21-11

Ecclesia College fell 21-11 to St. Gregory's University in seven innings on Tuesday despite racking up 15 hits and 11 runs.

Tali got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over four innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered four hits.

St. Gregory's University easily handled Ecclesia College pitching as seven hitters combined for 11 hits, 16 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

Alec Walker was charged with the loss. He allowed 11 runs in four innings, walked three and struck out three.

The top of the first saw Ecclesia College take an early lead, 3-0. Matt Garrison singled to ignite Ecclesia College's offense. A single by Zach Vincent then moved Garrison from first to third. Dylan Hartley singled, plating Garrison. Ecclesia College pushed more runs across when Vincent scored on an RBI single by Alec Walker and Hartley scored on an RBI single by Micheal Busby.

It didn't take long for St. Gregory's University to respond as it scored six runs of its own in the first. St. Gregory's University scored on a solo home run by Martin, a groundout by Bennett, a fielder's choice, and a three-run triple by Parsells.

St. Gregory's University went up for good in the fifth, scoring eight runs on two doubles, a fielder's choice, a three-run home run by Martinez, and two singles.

Ecclesia College scored two runs in the top of the sixth to cut its deficit to six. A two-run home run by J.T. Stalnaker fueled Ecclesia College's comeback. But, Tali got Cam Doughtery to fly out to end the inning.
