On Monday the Men's and Women's basketball teams of Ecclesia headed to play the Tigers of Champion Christian College in Hot Springs, AR.
The girls started off the night with a good, old fashioned barn burner. Throughout the entire game neither team saw more than a five point lead. Every quarter spread was within three points. Ultimately, the Royals would lead every quarter but the final one and would lose the game 63-61. The matchup battle of the night was the six-footers; Grace Crawford of EC and Destiny Gonzalez of CCC. Grace posted another double-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 steals on 8/13 from the field and 2/5 from deep versus Destiny's 19 points, and 12 boards on 8/16 from the field and 2/7 from deep.
Grace Crawford: 24 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals
Alysia Pickett: 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals
The close women's game must have been contagious because the men's team followed the same story line almost perfectly. Just as the women did, the men lead by a single point at the halftime intermission but would ultimately fall by two points 67-65. The game was a true dog fight that saw every (not lying) statistical category be within four for both teams: FG margin was 4, 3P margin was 3, FT margin was 2, Rebound margin was 3, AST margin was 2, TO margin was 2, BLK margin was 3, STL margin was 1, and point margin was 2. It was an instant classic that saw a last second game winning shot attempt by EC roll around the rim and fall off.
Terrell Green: 16 points, 6 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, 8/10 FG
Zachary McGee: 15 points, 7 rebounds, 5/10 3P
