The Royals traveled to Spurgeon College on Tuesday after missing the last five games due to bad weather.
The Royals entered the game with a lot of energy. This could be due to the fact that it was their first game in two weeks, it was the first game of the entire season with everyone suited up, or because they were fresh from only being able to practice twice in the last two weeks due to weather. Regardless of the reason, the Royals were ready to play, but so was Spurgeon. The Royals quickly found themselves in a whole from a hot shooting start from SC. The Knights blistered the Royals defense in the first half as they shot 53% FG, 42% 3PT, and 80% FT. The Royals were able to weather the storm and entered halftime with a single point lead 46-45. The Second half saw a different Royals defense walk on to the floor. The Royals buckled down and held Spurgeon to 33% FG, 0% (0-10) 3P, and 56% FT. This gave EC the momentum they needed to surge ahead. The Royals would finish out the game with everyone getting to play enroute to a 90-74 victory.
Nicholas Coble: 26 points, 7 rebounds, 4/8 3PT
Deondre Phillips: 19 points, 6 rebounds
Shamar Jones: 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2/3 3PT
