Ecclesia College's baseball team traveled to Kansas City, MO over the weekend for a four game series with Kansas Christian College. The series featured a lot of offense and not much else.
The first game of the series swung in favor of the Royals. With Cooper Gordon starting on the mound the Royals managed to keep the Falcons under 10 runs which seemed to be the ingredient needed for the Royals to win a game. Dylan Burleson and Jalen Reece also relieved on the mound during game one, and Cole Howard and Zack Espinosa each hit a home-run. The Royals would take game one with a final score of 13-9.
Game two of the series did not lose any offensive momentum from the first. Matthew Threatt and Maximus McCready pitched for the Royals and a plethora of Royals earned hits and runs. The Royals fell 13-14.
To kick off the second day of the series the Royals exploded offensively led by Jalen Reece's two home-runs and a triple. Coleson Coffey got the start and Elijah Saldana relieved in the 17-7 route for the Royals.
Game four of the weekend saw the Falcons post more than 10 runs, which seemed to be the achilles heel of the Royals. Jesse Alexander started with Jacob Cason and Elijah Saldana relieving. Zack Espinosa got his second home-run of the series and his 12th HR of the season to break the Single-Season HR Record. (Read More Here). Unfortunately the effort was not enough, and the Royals fell 9-13.
