Caulin Cragle, a Houston, Texas native, begins his first year as the pitching coach with the Royals. His primary duties consist of working with the pitchers, recruitment of pitchers, opponent scouting and camp/showcase coordinator.
Prior to being named the pitching coach at Ecclesia College, Cragle served as the pitching coach of the Windy Hill Whales of the Beach Collegiate Baseball League (BCBL) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Under his direction, Cragle guided the pitching staff to a 2017 Division Championship and League Runner-Up losing in the League Championship Game, 1-0. He also had the League Cy Young winner selected from his pitching staff.
After a highly successful high school playing career at Fort Bend Christian Academy in Sugerland, Texas, Cragle completed two seasons as an NCAA Division 1 pitcher in the highly-rated program at Dallas Baptist University, under renowned head coach Dan Heefner and pitching coach Wes Johnson (later Mississippi State and now University of Arkansas pitching coach). After his sophomore year at Dallas Baptist University, Cragle transferred to NAIA Central Baptist College where he was a frontline starting pitcher and lead his team to two National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) World Series Appearances. These experiences provided Cragle with valuable insights into high-level pitcher development, training, and game strategy necessary to be a successful pitcher at the collegiate level.
Cragle has also shadowed renowned pitching guru Ron Wolfworth, who he earlier trained with as a player, at The Baseball Ranch in Montgomery, Texas. As both a coach and a mentor, Wolfworth guided Cragle through active observation and participation in clinics addressing pitcher strength, conditioning, arm care, velocity training, command training, as well as pitching and coaching philosophy.
Cragle graduated from Central Baptist College with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology - Exercise Science.
