Tanner Huck   |   Head Men's Basketball Coach

Alma Mater: Barclay College '17

Basketball (M): Tanner Huck

Tanner Huck was born and raised in Coldwater, Kansas. Having just finished his second season with the Royals he is greatly looking forward to where the program is headed.

In season number two with the Royals Coach Huck’s squad made some great improvements, but still fell short in most of their games. Entering the season with only three returning players, six freshmen, and a transfer senior it was clear the team had a lot of growing to do. In the eight games that were decided by single digits or over-time the Royals dropped five of them. Although they improved on the previous season’s win total by three. The 6-24 Royals would have liked to capitalize on those close games. The team managed to place a player on to the All-Regional 3rd Team, and he was also a finalist for the Pete Maravich Award.

Coach Huck’s debut season as a head coach was rocky to say the least. They posted a final record of 3-26. With Coach Huck the Royals improved their win total from the previous season by two wins. They also earned a player spot on the All-Region Honorable Mention Team, and another sign a professional contract.

Tanner Huck comes to us from Barclay College in Haviland, Kansas where he served as an assistant basketball coach for the 2017-2018 school year. During that season, Barclay logged one of its most successful men's basketball campaign in years, finishing in a three-way tie for first place in the conference, and finishing as the runners up in the conference tournament. The Bears also posted the first regional tournament win in program history.

Prior to collegiate coaching, Huck got his coaching career started by working basketball camps for Uncharted Waters Sports Ministry in the summers of 2016 and 2017.

As a player, Huck had a decorated career playing for the Barclay Bears. He spent over half of his four years in the starting lineup. He was a career 58% shooter from the field and 75% from the free throw line. As a player he holds the record for the most consecutive games played at 125. Huck contributed to team success as well as they finished three straight years in the top two in the conference for the regular season, including one outright conference title. The team also appeared in three straight conference tournament championship games.

Huck graduated from Barclay College with his M.A. of Sports Outreach in 2020 and in 2017 with a B.S. in Sports and Recreation Ministry.
