Reshad Baker

Ecclesia College has hired Reshad Baker as head coach of its women’s basketball program.

Baker brings extensive experience as a recruiter and developer of talent. He has coached four state championship squads, a United States Olympian gold medal winner, a WNBA draft pick, and one McDonald’s All-American, while helping more than 90 players advance to the collegiate level. At the club level, he has produced three undefeated seasons. In his career he has developed over 30 nationally ranked prospects and helped more than 20 student-athletes reach Power Five programs.

“I’m elated and very grateful to have this opportunity to lead Ecclesia College to prominence as head coach,” Baker said. “This program is special to me as it is helping me do all things through God and Christ. I plan to bring high energy and do everything needed to make sure our players are successful on the court, within the community and in their lives.”

Baker most recently served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Kennesaw State University in 2024-25, the Owls’ first season as a member of Conference USA. He coached All-CUSA First Team selection Prencis Harden, who earned five CUSA Player of the Week honors. Harden (16) and the Owls (19) led the conference in double-doubles. Kennesaw State secured non-conference wins over Georgia State and road victories at Seattle and Chattanooga; the 64-41 win at Seattle marked the fewest points Seattle had scored in a non-conference home game since December 2004. In CUSA play the Owls won seven league games, earned the No. 7 seed in the conference tournament, and defeated UTEP in the first round to advance to the quarterfinals.

Prior to Kennesaw State, Baker was head women’s basketball coach at Northwest Kansas Technical College (now Fort Hays Tech Northwest).

Baker guided Northwest Tech to a historic 79-75 victory over the Cowley College Tigers—the program’s first win against the Tigers across all sports in school history. In that game, the Mavericks drained 16 three-pointers while shooting 45.7% from beyond the arc. He made history by recruiting two Division I players—Serena Lee from the University of Memphis and Jalynn Alexander from Western Illinois University—along with Division II player Michaela Lane, a transfer from Augusta University. Among the key talent he successfully recruited and developed was 6’1” guard Serena Lee. Lee averaged 17.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 39.4% (111-of-282) from the field and 28.7% (48-of-167) from three-point range. She scored in double figures on 14 occasions, recorded one double-double, and posted six games of 20+ points, finishing as a Top 20 scorer in the NJCAA, a Top 3 scorer in the Jayhawk Conference, and earning KJCCC Honorable Mention honors. Baker also recruited and developed 6’3” forward Jalynn Alexander, who averaged 12 points and 11 rebounds per game. Alexander’s standout performance came against Garden City CC with 26 points and 16 rebounds, and she ranked among the Top 20 rebounders in the NJCAA.

He served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at East Mississippi Community College, helping the team to a 12-5 overall record, an appearance in the Region 23 tournament semifinals, and the development of First Team All-American Ja’Mia Hollings.
Before that, Baker was coordinator of recruiting operations at Morehead State University, where he helped develop All-Ohio Valley Conference Second Team and All-Newcomer selection Jada Claude.

He also gained experience as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Chipola College (Marianna, Florida), South Plains College (Texas), and Gulf Coast State College (Florida).

Baker has deep roots in the New Orleans AAU scene. He spent approximately nine years as program director and head coach of Lady Flames Elite. Earlier he served as director of the Louisiana Lady Pumas Elite AAU team guided by former Louisiana Tech standout Dee Brown and was an assistant coach on the 2015 Lady Pumas squad that won the AAU Division I National Championship featuring future WNBA player Kalani Brown.

During his time in New Orleans AAU basketball he was associated with four state championship teams (including three undefeated clubs), claimed the Basketball on the Bayou Silver Division title in 2018, and guided teams to three Premier Basketball Report tournament finals. Among the players he helped develop or recruit are Kalani Brown (WNBA), Domonique Davis (LSU), Destiny Rice (Alabama), Kate Thompson (Wisconsin), and Erica Lafayette (Rutgers).

A product of Helen Cox High School in Harvey, Louisiana, Baker began his college education as a student team manager for East Mississippi Community College’s 2013-14 MACJC North Division championship squad. He earned an associate’s degree in business administration from Delgado Community College in 2017, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southern University at New Orleans in 2019, and a master’s degree in computer information systems from Southern University.

Baker’s sister, Kuaneshia (“Coco”) Baker, was the 2012 Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year, won an NJCAA National Championship at Trinity Valley Community College, and later played at LSU.
