Chickasha, Okla. — October 28, 2025
The Ecclesia College Royals men's basketball team dropped their second game of the young season on Tuesday night, falling 112–75 to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) Drovers.
Strong Start to the Season Continues Despite Tough Opponent
Coming off their season opener against College of the Ozarks, the Royals faced another talented opponent in USAO, a perennial power in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Ecclesia battled hard in the opening minutes, but the Drovers' fast-paced offense and size in the paint proved difficult to contain. USAO built a 48–31 halftime lead and continued to push the tempo throughout the second half.
Ford Leads the Way
Senior guard Christian Ford continued his early-season scoring tear, leading the Royals with 24 points, while also grabbing eight rebounds and dishing three assists. Ford's consistency and leadership have been bright spots through the first two games of the year.
Fellow guard Nate Hauglie added 11 points and nine rebounds, showing toughness on the boards and versatility on both ends of the floor. Several younger Royals also gained valuable minutes as the team continues to develop its rotation.
Areas of Growth
While the Royals struggled to find rhythm offensively — shooting just 33% from the field — they showed flashes of potential. Ecclesia continued to attack the basket, earning 31 free-throw attempts, and demonstrated hustle by pulling down 42 rebounds as a team.
Defensively, the Royals will look to tighten their rotations and improve communication to limit second-chance opportunities and transition points — two areas that fueled USAO's offensive success.
Building Momentum
Despite the result, the Royals' focus remains on growth and long-term improvement. Early road tests like this one serve as valuable experience as the team builds chemistry and identity under pressure.
Up Next
The Royals will return to action on Thursday, October 30, as they hit the road once again to take on Randall University in Moore, Oklahoma. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
