Springfield, Mo. — October 30, 2025
The Ecclesia College Royals women's basketball team dropped their third game of the young season on Thursday evening, falling 77–39 to the Mission University Patriots in Springfield, Missouri. The Royals battled throughout the contest but were unable to overcome a fast and disciplined Mission squad that capitalized on turnovers and second-chance points.
Tough Road Test
Coming off a pair of talented matchups to start the season, the Royals faced a sharp-shooting Mission team that wasted no time building momentum. The Patriots led 16–9 after the first quarter and extended their lead to 40–19 by halftime. Ecclesia fought to close the gap in the second half, but Mission's depth and transition offense proved too much down the stretch.
Taylor and Torres Lead the Effort
Senior forward Lillie Taylor paced the Royals with 9 points and 10 rebounds, providing energy and leadership in the paint. Alida Torres matched her team-high in scoring with 9 points of her own while adding 12 rebounds, continuing her early-season consistency as one of Ecclesia's most reliable interior players.
Several younger Royals also contributed solid minutes off the bench, gaining valuable experience as the team continues to build chemistry through its early-season schedule.
Areas of Growth
While the Royals struggled from the field — shooting just 18% overall and 11% from three-point range — their rebounding effort and ability to get to the line remained positives. The coaching staff will emphasize improved shot selection, limiting turnovers, and maintaining defensive focus in transition as Ecclesia looks to keep progressing each game.
Up Next
The Royals will continue their road stretch on Monday, November 3, when they travel north to take on Mount Marty University in Yankton, South Dakota. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. as Ecclesia looks to bounce back and build momentum before returning home later in November.
