Royals Lose "Toilet Paper Game" at JBU

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – The Ecclesia College Royals men's basketball team dropped their fourth contest of the 2025-26 season on Friday night, falling 94-68 to the John Brown University Golden Eagles inside Bill George Arena.

Despite the final margin, Ecclesia competed hard through stretches of the game, showing progress on both ends of the floor while continuing to build rhythm early in the year.

First-Half Fight

The Royals started strong, keeping pace with John Brown through the opening minutes. Ecclesia briefly grabbed a 15-13 lead midway through the first half thanks to active ball movement and efficient looks around the rim.

However, the Golden Eagles capitalized on second-chance opportunities and closed the half on a scoring run to take a 54-36 lead into the locker room.

Offensive Leaders

Christian Ford paced the Royals with 17 points and 6 rebounds, attacking the basket and providing steady offense throughout the night.
Amarion Hoggan added 14 points, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds, giving Ecclesia a spark on both ends.
The Royals' bench chipped in 14 points, with contributions from multiple players showing the team's developing depth.

As a team, Ecclesia shot 38.5 percent (25-of-65) from the field and 26.3 percent (5-of-19) from beyond the arc.

Second-Half Summary

In the second half, John Brown's rebounding advantage and interior scoring proved to be the difference. The Golden Eagles controlled the glass with a 52-28 margin and found consistent success in the paint, while Ecclesia continued to battle through defensive rotations and create open looks offensively.

The Royals showed resilience late, continuing to push tempo and finish plays despite the deficit, a sign of growth for the young roster.

Looking Ahead

Now 0-4 on the season, Ecclesia will look to regroup and build on the positives from Friday's performance as they continue their road stretch. The Royals return to action next week looking to capture their first win of the season.
