This weekend, Baseball finished another dominant 3-game set, going on the road to Randall and winning 3-1, 7-2, and 14-4.
Blaine Dunstan took the mound in Game 1 and continued to dominate. Dunstan threw 6 innings and only allowed 4 hits while striking out 6 not allowing a single run. He picked up the win to improve his record to 3-1 on the season with a 2.55 ERA.
Derek Harbison finished the game in relief, throwing the last inning and giving up 2 hits and 1 run while earning the save.
Offensively,
Jett Warner and
Ethan Delgado led the team in hits, both with 2 and both scoring 1 run. Warner also recorded 1 of the 3 RBIs of the day for the Royals.
Julian Aguilera (1-3),
Gustavo Soto (1-3, 1 R, 1 RBI),
Ray Jaramillo (1-3, 1 RBI), and
CJ Price (1-2) all collected hits in Game 1.
Cole Edwards took the mound in Game 2 and also pitched well. He went 4 innings and allowed 2 hits, and 0 earned runs while punching out 5 batters and picking up his fourth win of the year to move to 4-0.
Cade Bell finished the final 3 innings, giving up 1 hit, 0 earned runs and picking up 4 strikeouts of his own.
The offense started to wake up in Game 2, scoring 7 runs on 7 hits. Soto (2-2, 1 2B, 2 RBIs, 1 BB), Delgado (1-4, 1 R, 1 BB 1 SB), Aguilera (1-3, 1 2B, 2 R, 1 BB 1 SB), Jaramillo (1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI 1 SB), Warner (2 BB, 2 R 1 SB),
Adrian Vivo (1-3, 1 RBI)
KJ Merriweather (2 SB) and
CJ Price (1-2, 1 R, 1 SB) were all factors for the offense.
The Royals completed the road sweep with a 14-4 run-rule in Game 3 on Saturday, picking up 13 more hits. Eddie Soto picked up the win on the mound, going 4.1 innings in relief and only giving up 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 7.
The offense finally found its groove on Saturday, hitting .382 as a team. 7 of 9 starters had hits in the game, with Aguilera and Jaramillo each picking up 3.
CJ Price hit a leadoff triple in the top of the 7th inning, and Soto, Aguilera and Warner each hit a double.
By the final out on Saturday, the Royals remained as the top ranked team in the Central Southwest Conference for the 3rd straight week. At 10-2 in conference play and 15-6 overall, the team has a very important stretch of games coming up. After a midweek doubleheader against Philander Smith University in Little Rock, the team hosts #3 Arlington Baptist, plays another midweek vs PSU, then on the road vs ABU and then plays Randall again at home.
