On Thursday, the Royals Softball team played Crowleys Ridge College in a midweek doubleheader and took Game 1 by a run-rule and lost Game 2 6-2.
Alexis Williams continued to play well for the Royals, going 3 for with 2 doubles and a single. The Royals scored 9 of their 10 runs in the first inning thanks to RBIs from
Western Mussett (1-1, 1 R, 2 RBIs),
Riley McAdams (1-3, 1 R, 2 RBIs),
Aubrey Smith (1-3, 1 R, 1 RBI),
Kaylee McDaniel (1-1, 1 R, 1 RBI),
Lauren Taylor (0-2, 1 R, 1 RBI), Ralyn Johnson (0-3, 1 RBI) and Williams (3-4, 3 R, 2 RBIs).
Emily Suttles (4-9) picked up the win for the Royals, allowing 6 hits and 0 earned runs in 5 innings of work.
In Game 2, the offense came out more flat.
Ariana Ortiz remained a bright spot, collecting 3 of the team's 7 hits with a run and an RBI.
Taylor Hannah (1-4, 1 RBI), Williams (1-4), McAdams (1-3) and Ralyn Johnson (1-3) also collected hits in Game 2.
Suttles started Game 2 for the Royals and went 4 innings, giving up 9 hits, 4 earned runs while striking out 1. She took the loss to move to a 4-10 record on the season.
Ariana Ortiz pitched in relief, going 3 innings with 0 hits and runs allowed.
The Royals are back on the road for a doubleheader matchup in St Louis vs Harris-Stowe University on Tuesday starting at 1 pm.
