LOWELL, Ark. — August 30, 2025 — The Ecclesia College men's soccer team kicked off its 2025 season in dominant fashion with a 7–1 win against Manhattan Christian College at Mt. Hebron Park.
The Royals surged early, netting four goals in the first half. Julius Herzog opened scoring in the 5th minute, followed by goals from Colin Sarpong (16'), Baraka Odenyo (32'), and Pedro Figueroa (39') to take full control of the match.
Ecclesia kept the momentum rolling in the second half. Angel Portillo extended the lead in the 53rd minute, and Pedro Figueroa added his second of the day in the 62nd. Niklas Roessler, assisted by Julian Garcia, capped the scoring in the 73rd minute.
A late goal by Riuben Basubeche in the 82nd minute offered slight consolation for Manhattan Christian. Meanwhile, Ecclesia's offense outmatched the visitors—27 total shots and 25 on target compared to just two from Manhattan Christian. Opposing goalkeeper Jaime Fernandez made 14 saves in a valiant effort, but the Royals' relentless attack proved overwhelming.
With this victory, Ecclesia improves to 1–0 on the season, indicating a strong start to their campaign.
