Baseball Drops First Series of the Season at Hannibal-LaGrange

Seneca, MO: The Ecclesia Royals picked up an early series victory and showed resilience throughout a three-game road set against the Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans, finishing the weekend with one win and two hard-fought losses.

Royals Take Opener Behind Elmore's Dominant Outing

Ecclesia opened the series in strong fashion with a 4–1 victory, powered by an outstanding performance from Drew Elmore on the mound.

Elmore delivered one of his best outings of the season, keeping the Trojans' offense in check and working deep into the game. He allowed just one run while limiting scoring opportunities and consistently attacking the strike zone.

Offensively, the Royals provided early support with a three-run second inning. Timely hits and aggressive baserunning helped Ecclesia seize control, while solid defense backed up Elmore's efforts.

The combination of efficient pitching, strong defense, and situational hitting gave the Royals a complete performance in the series opener.

Royals Battle in Offensive Shootout in Game Two

Game two featured a high-scoring back-and-forth contest, with Ecclesia matching Hannibal-LaGrange's offensive pace for much of the afternoon. The Royals put together multiple scoring rallies and finished with nine runs, showcasing depth throughout the lineup.

Despite the strong offensive showing, Hannibal-LaGrange used late innings to pull ahead and secure a 12–9 win.

Ecclesia continued to compete until the final out, demonstrating toughness and persistence in a game that remained within reach throughout.

Royals Continue to Fight in Series Finale

In the final game of the series, the Trojans built an early lead, but the Royals continued to battle and looked for opportunities to shift momentum.

Ecclesia plated runs in the middle innings and received steady work from the bullpen, but ultimately fell 7–2.

Even in defeat, the Royals showed resilience, limiting further damage after early pressure and continuing to compete offensively.

Series Notes

  • Ecclesia earned a 4–1 win in the opener

  • Drew Elmore allowed just one run in a dominant start

  • Royals scored nine runs in game two

  • Team remained competitive in all three contests

The series provided valuable experience for a Royals squad continuing to grow as the season progresses.

Looking Ahead

While Ecclesia dropped the series two games to one, the weekend featured several positive takeaways. Strong pitching performances, balanced offensive production, and consistent competitiveness highlighted the Royals' potential moving forward.

As the young season progresses, this Royals squad still has lots to improve on and lots to be proud of with a current 11-4 record and 5 games remaining until the conference opener at Dallas Christian College on March 6.
