BETHANY, Okla. — Facing one of the premier programs in the country, the Ecclesia Royals went toe-to-toe with the 2024 NCCAA National Champion Southwestern Christian Eagles, earning a hard-fought split in Tuesday's doubleheader.

Game 1: Eagles Hold On Late, 4-3

The Royals came out ready to compete and matched the defending national champions inning for inning in the opener.

After Southwestern Christian jumped ahead early, Ecclesia responded with a three-run inning to even the score midway through the game. The Royals continued to apply pressure offensively, finishing with nine hits, but a pair of late runs by the Eagles proved to be the difference in a narrow 4-3 loss.

Despite the result, Ecclesia showed it could generate consistent offense against one of the top pitching staffs in the NCCAA.

Game 2: Royals Respond with Gritty 6-5 Win

The team didn't flinch — they answered.

The Royals struck early in game two, exploding for a four-run second inning to take control. While Southwestern Christian continued to put runners on base throughout the game, Ecclesia delivered in the moments that mattered most.

Adding key insurance runs in the middle innings, the Royals held off a late push from the Eagles to secure a 6-5 victory, sealing the split against the defending national champions. Derek Harbison threw 3.1 clutch innings out of the bullpen to finish the game and earn the win.
