Baseball Takes 3 out of 4 to Win the Series Against #1 Conference Ranked Arlington Baptist

The Ecclesia Royals put on a great showing over last weekend against Arlington Baptist University. Arlington Baptist was ranked #1 in the conference, but the underdog Royals came to take some wins from a great program.

In game one, the Royals suffered a heart-breaker 8-7. However, had the motivation and drive to come back and win the next three. The Royals were hungry for another series win and they started game two with great energy and fight.

The Royals were triumphant over the Patriots in game two 4-2 on Friday at Randall Tyson Recreational Complex. Although ABU got on the board first, the Royals quickly captured the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the third. Keegan Bulza singled, scoring one run, and Jett Warner homered to center field, scoring two runs.

Cole Doke earned the win for Ecclesia College. The southpaw surrendered four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out three and walking three. Cole Edwards also collected the save.

Warner went 1-for-3 at the plate as the shortstop led the team with two runs batted in. Delton Lamborn led Ecclesia with two hits in three at bats.

Game three was won in fashion by the Royals with a walk off win. It came down to the wire in the first game on Saturday. Ecclesia grabbed the victory 3-2 over Arlington after the game had been tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh. Julian Aguilera walked it off with a double, scoring one run to lead the Royals to victory.

The pitching was strong on both sides. The Royals struck out three, while Arlington sat down four.

Ecclesia tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a single by Adrian Vivo, and a walk by Jett Warner

Coleson Coffey earned the win for the Royals. They gave up nine hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking two.

Aguilera, Vivo, David Chavez, Easton Reichard, Zachary Lester, Joseph Jaco, and Nick Deterding each collected one hit for the Royals. Warner, Aguilera, and Vivo each drove in one run for Ecclesia. The Royals also managed to turn two double plays in the game.

In the last game of the series, Ecclesia College became victorious once again. The Royals came out on top 7-3 for game two on the day.

Ecclesia opened the scoring in the bottom of the second thanks to three doubles. The Royals first got on the board when Nick Deterding doubled, scoring one run.

Blaine Dunston earned the win for Ecclesia. The starting pitcher gave up eight hits and three runs (two earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two. Chandler Hanson threw one inning of no-run ball for the Royals in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking none.

The Royals amassed 10 hits in the game. Jett Warner and Adrian Vivo each collected two hits for Ecclesia. Tyler Davis and Warner each drove in two runs for the Royals. Ecclesia also turned another pair of double plays in this game.

We are immensely proud of our Royals baseball program, and are excited to see them continue their success. This was a great effort by everyone on the team and exactly the wins they needed to stay on the right track the season. There were great memories made over the weekend and more to come in the upcoming series. This weekend the Royals baseball team will play at home against Champion Christian. Go Royals!
