POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. — The Ecclesia College Royals tipped off their 2025–26 season on Thursday night with an encouraging performance on the road against the College of the Ozarks Bobcats. Despite falling 75–52, the Royals showed energy, toughness, and flashes of potential that point toward an exciting year ahead.
Battling Early and Building Momentum
The first half was a competitive battle, with the Royals matching the Bobcats' energy and attacking the paint. Ecclesia moved the ball well in stretches, finding open looks and forcing turnovers with active hands on defense.
At halftime, the Royals trailed 35–23, but the team's defensive intensity and rebounding effort kept them within striking distance.
Balanced Scoring Effort
Ecclesia's offense showed balance, with three players reaching double figures.
- Christian Ford led the way with 10 points and 8 rebounds, showing his trademark strength on both ends.
- Ahmad Raymond added 10 points on efficient shooting, bringing a spark off the bench.
- Adrian Nelson contributed 10 points and 4 rebounds, demonstrating consistency inside.
Several other Royals made an impact on the glass and defensively, helping limit second-chance points and control the tempo for long stretches.
Signs of a Developing Team Identity
While the shots didn't fall at the clip the Royals hoped for, the effort and teamwork were clear. Ecclesia outscored the Bobcats in bench production and showed depth that will be vital throughout the season.
The Royals also dominated stretches of the game defensively, holding the Bobcats to just 11% from beyond the arc (3-26). Their physical rebounding presence — pulling down 42 total boards — showed that Ecclesia can compete with anyone on the glass.
Building for the Weeks Ahead
With the season officially underway, the Royals will look to build on Thursday's lessons. Improved shot selection and continued defensive effort will be key areas of focus heading into next week's contests.
Looking Forward
The Royals will stay on the road for their next matchup, traveling to take on the University of Science and Arts in Oklahoma. The team will look to carry their defensive intensity and rebounding presence into that contest as they continue building momentum early in the season.
