The Softball Ladies finished the 4-game series against nationally-ranked #8 Southwestern Christian University on Friday with a doubleheader. While playing an extremely talented offense, the defense struggled, giving up 14 runs in Game 3 and 19 runs in Game 4. The offense, however, did provide some bright spots to inspire momentum going forward. In Game 3, both
Ariana Ortiz and
Western Mussett went 1 for 2 with Ortiz scoring 1 run. In Game 4 the Royals picked up 8 hits while scoring 5 runs, with Ortiz (3-3),
Alexis Williams (2-3, 2 runs, 4 RBI),
Riley McAdams (1-3),
Aubrey Smith (1-3, 1 run) and
Kaylee McDaniel (1-3) all contributing at the plate.
Western Mussett also pitched well for the Royals out of the bullpen in Game 3, going 1 inning with 1 hit and 0 earned runs allowed.
The Royals have a quick turnaround before heading to Mission University on Tuesday looking to win two and get back on the right track.
