Ecclesia's softball program goes 5-1 in their last six games. The Royals softball team has come out victorious 6 times this season so far, and has a promising rest of the season ahead of them.
Royals took Wednesday's first game in dramatic fashion, with a 16-15 walk-off victory over Southwestern College in Springdale, Arkansas. The game was tied at 15 in the bottom of the eighth when
Lexie Guerrero singled, scoring one run.
Ariana Ortiz drove in four runners in the win. The right-handed hitter went 5-5 on the day.
Royals made the score 8-2 in the bottom of the first inning when
Madison Knox hit a solo home run to left field, and Ortiz doubled, scoring one run.
Royals scored six runs on six hits in the bottom of the second inning.
Rylee Williams tripled, scoring one run,
Western Mussett homered to left field scoring two runs, and
Amani Scales homered to right field, scoring three runs.
In the bottom of the third inning, Royals went back into the lead after Williams singled, and Mussett doubled, each scoring one run.
Royals took the lead again in the bottom of the fourth inning after Ortiz hit another double, and Guerrero singled, each scoring one run.
Royals tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a double by Knox, and a single by Ortiz.
Emily Suttles earned the win for the Royals. The right-handed pitcher surrendered 14 hits and 15 runs (six earned) over eight innings, striking out one and walking one.
Game two for the Royals on Wednesday afternoon was another victory for Ecclesia. Western Musset drove in four runs on three hits to lead Royals past Southwestern College 12-8 on Wednesday at the Lady Royals home field. Mussett singled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and hit a home run to left field in the fifth inning, scoring two.
Southwestern College were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored one run. However, Royals took the lead, 6-1, in the bottom of the first. Singles by
Aubrey Smith,
Ariana Ortiz,
Amani Scales,
Kaylee McDaniel, and Mussett were instrumental in scoring.
Royals added one run in the second after Scales walked. Three more Royals runs crossed the plate in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 12-6. Mussett homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Scales singled, scoring one run.
Madison Knox earned the win for the Royals. The right-handed pitcher surrendered seven hits and eight runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking one. The Royals amassed 17 hits in the game. Mussett and Smith each collected three hits for the Royals. Ortiz, Scales,
Rylee Williams, and
Lauren Taylor each collected multiple hits for Ecclesia. Ecclesia also turned one double play in the game.
The next games for Ecclesia were the following Monday and Tuesday. Monday's games were played against Harris-Stowe University. Royals defeated Harris-Stowe University 11-3 on Monday, at home, thanks in part to six runs in the third inning.

Madison Knox earned the win for the Royals. She surrendered three hits and three runs (one earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out six and walking one.
Emily Suttles started the game for Ecclesia. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.
Guerrero, Mussett, and Williams each collected two hits for Ecclesia. Mussett went 2-for-3 at the plate leading the team with three runs batted in. Royals also stole three bases in the game.
Game two against Harris-Stowe University was another victory for the Royals.
Madison Knox collected three hits in four at bats, as Ecclesia defeated Harris-Stowe University 9-1. Knox singled in the fifth inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the first inning.

Royals jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Ortiz singled,
Lexie Guerrero grounded out, and
Kaylee McDaniel singled, each scoring one run.
Emily Suttles earned the win for Ecclesia. They surrendered two hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking one.
Ortiz and McDaniel each collected multiple hits for the Royals. Knox, Ortiz, and McDaniel each stole multiple bases for the Royals. Ecclesia ran wild on the base paths, piling up 10 stolen bases for the game. Royals turned one double play in the game. Ecclesia also didn't commit a single error in the field. Guerrero had the most chances in the field with 8.
Tuesday's double-header was in Winfield, Kansas, where Ecclesia played against Southwestern College again. The first game was a rough one for the Royals, and their win streak of four was snapped by the Builders. The first game ended in a loss for Ecclesia 11-9. However, game two the Royals came back with avengeance.
Ariana Ortiz collected three hits in four at bats, as the Royals defeated Southwestern College 12-3. Ortiz doubled in the third inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the first inning.

Riley McAdams, a walk by Knox, and a double by Ortiz helped Ecclesia extend their early lead in the third.
Emily Suttles earned another win for the Royals. Suttles allowed six hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out none and walking one.
Royals tallied 15 hits in the game. Knox went 2-for-3 at the plate as the right-handed hitter led the team with four runs batted in.

After a good week of softball for the Lady Royals, they will continue play this week on Saturday. Ecclesia softball will be playing in Sterling, Kansas against Sterling College. We wish our softball team the best of luck, and pray for their safety on the road.
